About the Hats
Tracey Tooker is the founder of Tracey Tooker Hats, a private, high couture millinery business established in SoHo in 1988
Tracey specializes in providing an international clientele of very discerning and accomplished women in stylishly elegant hats for all occasions, including weddings, charity events, garden parties, major race meetings and polo matches. She has been a fixture of many years at the Hampton Classic Horse Show on the East End of Long Island. One of the hats she designed received worldwide exposure at the 2001 Kentucky Derby when it was worn by the winning owner’s wife.
Over the course of her design career, Tracey has sold her hats exclusively via retail outlets she established in New York City, Southampton, and Palm Beach. Her long list of celebrity clients includes First Ladies Nancy Reagan and Hillary Clinton, along with Brooke Astor, Glenn Close, Aretha Franklin, Bianca Jagger, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, Martha Stewart, Barbara Walters and Vera Wang to name a few.
Tracey, whose ancestors wore beautiful hats when settling Staten Island in the 1600’s, grew up in Locust Valley, New York and Aspen Colorado. She is a graduate of Pratt Institute and The Fashion Institute of Technology. Prior to starting her own millinery business, she headed the Hat Division at Liz Claiborne.
A chair Tracey co-designed is in the permanent collection of the Louvre, Paris France.
